Senior Fall Prevention Institute

Our Mission

Our mission is to increase awareness of falls and fall prevention to the older adult population and their families through research, dissemination of information, and education. Our goal is to bring effective fall prevention programming to community-dwelling seniors so that they can maintain their mobility and independence, increase safety, and reduce fall risk. The SFPI conducts research into the effectiveness of fall prevention programming and provides appropriate fall prevention programs for community-dwelling older adults at Senior Centers, Community Centers and Hospitals.

We have a lot of information about our work to share with you on this website, and are preparing it for you. In the meantime, if you have questions about us or our work, please email us at SFPInstitute@gmail.com.

    Our Story

    Improved access to fall prevention
    and exercise programming.

Celeste Carlucci founded the Senior Fall Prevention Institute because she envisions a world in which no one is limited in his or her activities, or housebound because of fear of falling. Her goal is to implement evidence-based, sustainable fall prevention programming to the older population throughout the United States.

Celeste wants to reach the older population with meaningful programming that enhances what matters most to them – their independence, quality of life, interests, and more. Through the Institute she will reach under-served communities, particularly older adults with limited income who still want and need access to effective programs. She believes that aging can bring magic to one’s life. The Senior Fall Prevention Institute celebrates that magic.

The Institute will improve access to fall prevention and exercise programming to people with limited funds. It will secure funding to disseminate preventative exercise and education programs to reduce falls and their cost to individuals, families, and communities.

In the United States, according to The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 55 million adults over the age of 65. This number grows every year, and the majority of these adults need programs that help them stay active and safe.

Founder CELESTE CARLUCCI is a fitness expert and former professional dancer who received her training at The Alvin Ailey School of Dance and has performed nationally and internationally with many notable choreographers, including Bob Fosse. For thirty years she has taught movement, creating programs for all age groups. Her specialty and emphasis has been innovative, joyful programs focusing on senior wellness, fitness, and fall prevention. These programs are designed to enhance the lives of older adults. Her mission is to give seniors the strength and confidence to stay active in their communities.
